World of Squash Golf Day 11'

The 4th Annual World of Squash Golf Day once again took place over the challenging Surrey National Golf Course near Caterham earlier this month. Eventis Sports Marketing brought together golfers from all walks of squash, including players, sponsors, administrators, media and fans of the sport from across the globe, even as far as New Zealand

The hilly course was sculptured out of the Happy Valley landscape and presents many varied and challenging holes. Unlike last year it was a stunning September’s day that welcomed the eager golfers. As always preparation was varied ranging from hitting plenty of balls on the range, fine tuning the putting stroke to a pint of beer and a bacon sandwich!

After dinner was served the prizes were awarded with the winning team featuring a ‘ghost’ player by virtue of an injury to their fourth player, and still compiling an impressive 96 points!! So hats off to Messrs Temple, Pearson and Pilley. The individual was won by ‘el bandito’ Cameron Pilley who was using borrowed clubs but was clearly not a 24-handicap judging by his 41 points! However, Eventis’ very own Tim Garner recovered from barely making it past the ladies tee on the first to tie with Pilley, only to lose out by virtue of a poorer back 9.

Nearest the Pins were won by Moov’s Nev Appleton playing for the PSA team & Paul Pearson who hit two impressive blows to  pick up the ‘Nearest the pin in Two’ on the tough 6th hole. Daryl Selby was unable to retain his Longest Drive title as Two Birds’ Shane Ensoll smashed the ball over 300 yards down the 18th.

Young Sports Aid funded golfer Toby Tree also impressed everyone with his skills with just 11 golfers finishing inside his shot on the 3rd while 15 ended up in the water!
