World of Squash Golf Day ‘09
Tue 28th July, Epsom |
Eventis Sports
have announced that the second World of Squash Golf Day
will take place on Tuesday 28th July 2009.
Over
eighty golfers will again gather in Epsom to head out over
18 holes on the beautiful Coronation Course, at the
stunning RAC, Woodcote Park. After the success of last year
the day will bring together golfers from all walks of
squash, including current & former players, sponsors,
administrators and fans of the sport. They will be able to
do battle over the challenging course before enjoying dinner
together in the spectacular main building.
Eventis
director Peter Nicol explains "last year’s event
proved to be a resounding and we are sure that this year
will be no different. It will be a competitive but fun day
for all concerned and will hopefully stimulate interaction
and introductions that might not otherwise occur."
Always committed to growing the sport first and then looking
to build on those solid foundations, the event has found
support from the associations, clubs and players from
professional to recreational. Prize sponsors include Dunlop,
Harrow & Prince and will be awarded for the best individual
and team, as well other competitions, such as Nearest the
Pin & Longest Drive.
Nicol
also pointed out "returning to the wonderful Royal
Automobile Club at Woodcote Park made perfect sense as their
Pall Mall Club has played host to our Awards dinner for the
first three years.
This will further strengthen an already flourishing
relationship we, and the squash world, has with the RAC and
give the event a solid base moving forwards."

World of Squash Golf Day ‘08
Tue 29th July, Epsom |
The inaugural World of Squash Golf Day
took place over the beautiful Coronation Course, at the stunning
RAC, Woodcote Park, last week and has been described as a
resounding success by all concerned.
The initiative launched by Eventis will brought together golfers
from all walks of squash, including players, sponsors,
administrators, media and fans of the sport.
Travelling from as far afield as South Africa, Germany & Ireland the
competitors were treated to a wonderful days entertainment, which
stretched from the bacon rolls on arrival to Adrian ‘Wizard’
Davies wrapping things up with an auction in his own
entertaining style.
On the course, the golf ranged from the distinctly mediocre to the
sublime, with England Squash’s Chris Nutley holing from 150
yards out the pick of the latter. Back in the club house the prizes
were awarded with New Malden II pipping England Squash for
the team event by virtue of a count back after the two ended tied on
90 points.

There was no such drama in the individual where Trinity Mirror’s
guest James Motley romped home with 45 points, a result of
the 15 handicapper going round in just 6 over! Needless to say that
he was given a vociferous reception on collecting his prize of a
Prince Speedport Black squash racket.
The evening ended with the aforementioned auction in aid of the
London Squash Academy, yet another Eventis concept, which will
be set up to increase young children’s participation in squash in
London.
Over £3,000 was raised thanks to the generosity of those who had
donated prizes and those who bid for them. The money will be used to
implement the programme this autumn and more details will be
available shortly.

The Eventis Sports Marketing
team have announced another first to add to their growing portfolio.
On Tuesday 29th July 2008 eighty golfers will gather in Epsom
to head out over 18 holes for the first ever World of Squash Golf
Day.
Taking
place on the beautiful Coronation Course, at the stunning
RAC, Woodcote Park, this initiative launched by Eventis will
bring together golfers from all walks of squash, including current &
former players, sponsors, administrators and fans of the sport. They
will be able to do battle over the challenging course before
enjoying dinner together in the spectacular main building.
Eventis are also the rights holders of several other ‘firsts’
including the English Open, The Canary Wharf Squash
Classic and the World Squash Awards, and see a golf day
as a natural progression.
Always committed to growing the sport first and then looking to
build on those solid foundations, the event has found support from
the associations, clubs and players from professional to
recreational. Prizes will be awarded for the best individual and
team, as well other competitions, such as Nearest the Pin &
Longest Drive. Swing analysis company MySwingZone will
also set up on one of the holes to add further interest to the day's
activities.
"Having
now firmly established the World Squash Awards as fixture on the
squash scene, we felt this was an opportunity to get like minded
individuals from the world of squash together but away from the
court. We are sure that it will be a competitive but fun day for all
concerned and will hopefully stimulate interaction and introductions
that might not otherwise occur.
"Hosting the event at the wonderful Royal Automobile Club at
Woodcote Park made perfect sense as their Pall Mall Club has played
host to our Awards dinner for the first three years. This event will
further strengthen an already flourishing relationship we, and the
squash world, has with the RAC."
